There is an acceptance within the club, however, that it will be very difficult to get a deal done with Szobozlai’s $76m release clause set to run out on Friday- after which, RB Leipzig will be able to demand a much greater fee.
Szoboszlai’s preference is to play on the right-hand side and cut in on his left foot but he has also been deployed as an attacking midfielder behind the striker for club and country previously.
For the second season running, Szobszlai hit double figures for goals for the Red Bull-owned club last term and despite being born this millennium, already has 32 caps for his country.
It would be the second deal to be arranged between the two clubs this summer, following the loan deal which will see Fabio Carvalho go in the other direction.
