Manchester City have sought out Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga as a replacement transfer target after dropping out of the race for Declan Rice.
The 21-year-old is highly rated in Spain and is currently representing his country in the Under-21’s European Championships taking place in Romania and Georgia over the course of this summer.
Gabri Veiga wanted by treble winners Man City
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, City now see Veiga as a much more viable option after pulling out of a deal for West Ham captain Rice, unwilling to match the reported $132m offer from Premier League rivals Arsenal.

Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Chelsea have all shown an interest in Veiga this summer but treble winners City have now entered the race for the young Spaniard and are unlikely to be put off by the release clause in his contract of only $50m.
Veiga scored a highly impressive 11 goals in La Liga last season, including two in a 2-1 home win against Barcelona on the last day of the season which guaranteed top-flight survival for his hometown club for another year in what seemed to be an emotional farewell to the Balaidos faithful.
