FC Cincinnati have reportedly blocked USMNT forward Brandon Vazquez’s move to Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach.
The 24-year-old Californian native was on target for the Stars and Stripes in the 1-1 CONCACAF Gold Cup draw with Jamaica in Chicago last week and has attracted interest from the German club who are set to lose star striker Marcus Thuram to Inter Milan this week.
Brandon Vazquez keen on Bundesliga move
According to the American correspondent Michele Giannone, Monchengladbach representatives flew to Cincinnati to watch Vazquez play and even turned up at the player’s house to present to him the club’s project.
Last year’s MLS All-Star Game pick was reportedly left extremely impressed by Monchengladbach’s and agreed personal terms to swap the States for Western Germany with a verbal offer being made but The Orange and Blue’s said no to a sale against Vazquez’s wishes.
The decision has left Vazquez with a dilemma: whether to hand in a written transfer request to push through a move to Monchengladbach or continue performing for the Eastern Conference club and wait until the end of the MLS season to make a switch to Europe- with the possibility The Foals move on to different targets by then.
