Manchester City are on the verge of agreeing on a world-record deal for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.
Pep Guardiola is said to be a huge fan of the defender, who enjoyed an excellent campaign at the 2022 World Cup with Croatia. The 21-year-old was named in the FIFA Team of the Tournament.
City close to agreeing on deal for Josko Gvardiol
Man City have already strengthened this summer, following the arrival of Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea. However, the club are set to pay a world record price for a defender, with Leipzig set to offer a deal worth nearly $100 million for Gvardiol.
It has been reported by The Telegraph that a deal is expected to be completed by the end of this week, as the player has made it clear to Leipzig that he wishes to move to the Etihad.
Gvardiol made 30 appearances for Leipzig last season, scoring once in the Bundesliga. The defender can play in either central defense or at left-back, and was a key part of the Leipzig side that won the DFB Pokal for the second successive season.
