Newcastle United have completed the signing of star midfielder Sandro Tonali from AC Milan for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old has finalized the move following Italy’s disappointing early exit from the UEFA European Under-21’s Championships in Romania and Georgia- where Tonali captained the Azzurri throughout the tournament.

The childhood Milan fan becomes the most expensive Italian player ever following his move- reportedly worth $76m with add-ons included. Tonali’s preferred position is defensive midfield and the young Italian will fight it out with the Brazilian midfield duo of Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes for a starting birth at St James’ Park next season.
The news was confirmed by the club’s official social media platforms with Tonali putting pen to paper over a five-year deal.
Speaking about his latest recruit, Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe stated, “At 23, Sandro already has important experience as a key player in one of Europe’s top leagues, as well as playing for his country.”
