Ligue 1 club Lyon have made a surprise written offer to Chelsea for USMNT star Christian Pulisic on a permanent transfer.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the French side’s offer is worth $27.3m, $12m more than the fee offered by rivals for Pulisic’s services, Italian giants AC Milan.

Lyon’s bid also includes a meaningful selling-on clause with Chelsea reportedly happy to negotiate with the French club.
Pulisic had agreed personal terms with the Rossoneri but with Lyon’s offer matching Chelsea’s evaluation of the Hershey-born star, the 24-year-old’s move to Italy has been put in serious doubt.
The Blues have an excellent relationship with Lyon following the January signing of full-back Malo Gusto, who was immediately loaned back to L’OL.
Pulisic has struggled to find the form he initially showed during his first year at Stamford Bridge during the 2019-2020 campaign, scoring 26 goals in 145 appearances in all competitions for the Blues in his four-year spell.
