Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have entered talks with USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie ahead of a permanent summer move.
McKennie, 24, is under contract at Juventus until 2025 but his future is in significant doubt this summer after he was loaned out to struggling Leeds United during the second half of last season.
Weston McKennie’s Juventus future in doubt
According to ESPN’s Constantin Eckner, talks between the two parties have progressed well and Juventus are looking to offload a number of players in order to revamp their squad following a disappointing campaign last term.
McKennie’s move to Dortmund may prove controversial in some quarters of the BVB fanbase, however, after the Texan native spent five years at their bitter local rivals Schalke 04 before his move to Italy in 2021.
In Gelsenkirchen, McKennie made 91 appearances in all competitions which included a run to the Champions League knockout stages in 2018-2019, where they were eventually eliminated 10-2 on aggregate by Premier League giants Manchester City.
