DC United boss Wayne Rooney has encouraged the MLS club to complete the permanent transfer of Lewis O’Brien.
The midfielder is currently on loan at the capital club, but is due to return to Nottingham Forest when the current deal expires.
Rooney pushes for permanent Lewis O’Brien move
DC United made their move for O’Brien in the January transfer window, as the midfielder saw few minutes in the Premier League with Forest.
In the first half of the top-flight campaign, he played just 13 appearances across all competitions.
However, there now appears to be pressure on United to make a permanent move for O’Brien, as Premier League newcomers Sheffield United are showing an interest, according to the Mirror.
O’Brien’s current loan spell in the MLS is due to come to an end in the middle of July, but Rooney is keen to push through a permanent move.
However, the former Man United star has admitted that the deal could be difficult due to Premier League interest in the star.
