The Algerian U23 international has signed a three-year contract with an option of another year and will wear the number 11 shirt for the Cityzens.
Bakrar first made a name for himself at Algerian side ET Setif and will fill a problem area for Nick Cushing’s side after Taty Castellanos spent the 2022-23 European side on loan at sister club Girona and Brazilian marksman Heber was sold to MLS rivals Seattle Sounders last December.
According to the official MLS website, Bakrar said of his move, “I am thrilled to be joining New York City. It’s a club that plays exciting attacking football that suits my style of play. I look forward to playing in this great city and hope to contribute on the field and help this team fight for trophies.”
