Manchester United have completed the signing of Andre Onana on a five-year deal with an option of a further year.
The 27-year-old’s transfer has been a long time coming and sees the Cameroonian move to Old Trafford for an initial fee of $56.6m with an additional $5.5m owed in achievable add-ons.
Man United confirm signing of new number one
Onana will arrive at Old Trafford as United’s new first-choice goalkeeper following the departure of David De Gea earlier this summer and becomes the third most expensive shot-stopper in history behind Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga and Liverpool keeper Alison Becker.
The news was officially announced this evening on the club’s official website for whom Onana said: “To join Manchester United is an incredible honor and I have worked hard all my life to get to this moment. Walking out at Old Trafford to defend our goal and contribute to the team will be another amazing experience”.

Onana will wear the number 24 jersey he wore at Inter Milan and will reunite with former Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag after the pair enjoyed four years together in Amsterdam- winning three league titles during that time.
After completing his medical and signing all remaining contracts, Onana will now join up with his new teammates in the United States ahead of their pre-season tour.
