Manchester City have agreed to sell wide forward Carlos Borges for approximately $18m to Premier League rivals West Ham United.
Borges, 19, is still yet to make his first-team debut for the Cityzens but is extremely highly rated by the club’s academy and has become a regular for the Portuguese under-19 international side for whom he represented in the UEFA under-19 European Championships this summer.

Carlos Borges set for move to Hammers
Predominantly playing on the left-hand side of a front free, Borges scored 25 goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions for City’s under-21 side last season- including a hattrick against Sevilla in the UEFA Champions Youth League. As is common in many of City’s deals, a buy-back clause will be included in Borges’ contract at West Ham which will give the treble winners first choice to buy-back the Portuguese if the Hammers looked to sell.
Joining Borges out the exit door at the Etihad Stadium this summer is young goalkeeper James Trafford who completed his transfer to Burnley yesterday for an eye-raising $24.5m fee. Trafford will become Vincent Kompany’s new number one and will now prepare to take on his old employers in the first match of next season’s Premier League campaign which is due to kick off on August 11.
