Manchester United remain in the market for a back-up goalkeeper this summer, and have approached Turkish giants Fenerbahce for Altay Bayindir.
Erik ten Hag is looking for a solid number two to challenge Andre Onana for the forthcoming season after seemingly allowing Dean Henderson to return to Nottingham Forest.
United identify Altay Bayindir as preferred back-up option
There’s little doubt that Onana will be ten Hag’s number one after securing the services of the former Inter stopper. However, the club remains in the market for a suitable back-up option.
It has been reported by GOAL that a move for Bayindir has attracted the interest of United, with Tom Heaton’s long-term future also in the balance after being offered regular game time at Luton Town.
Bayindir has been at Fenerbahce since 2019, and has played over 100 times across all competitions. The 25-year-old has also played five times for the Turkish national side after making his debut in a May 2021 friendly against Azerbaijan.
