Chelsea have agreed a fee to sign defender Axel Disasi from Monaco for a fee just short of $50m.
Disasi, 25, enjoyed an excellent personal campaign for the Monagasque last season and will provide another option for Mauricio Pochettino after Wesley Fofana suffered a serious knee injury which will keep him out for the entirety of the upcoming 2023-2024 campaign.
Axel Disasi set for Chelsea switch
Disasi had been linked with Premier League rivals Manchester United earlier this summer but the Red Devils were unwilling to stump up the expensive fee for the French international having already splashed out on Mason Mount and Andre Onana.
Disasi will become Chelsea’s third summer signing following the arrivals of Nicolas Jackson and fellow Frenchman Christopher Nkunku, who has already impressed on the Blues’ pre-season tour of the US.
With Benoit Badiashile also currently on the Chelsea treatment table, Todd Boehly’s side currently only have three fit center back’s available in veteran Thiago Silva, Trevor Chalobah, and Levi Colwill- who has been heavily rumored with Brighton and Hove Albion this summer.
