Liverpool have submitted an improved offer worth close to $58m for Southampton defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia.
The 19-year-old is highly rated by Jurgen Klopp who has been the driving force in the Reds’ pursuit of Lavia. Chelsea and Arsenal remain keen on the former Manchester City graduate but according to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have now emerged as the clear favorites for the Belgium international.

Romeo Lavia set for Reds switch?
Despite interest coming from Premier League rivals, Liverpool have stepped up their pursuit of Lavia after losing Jordan Henderson to Al Ettifaq and defensive midfielder Fabinho set to move to Al Ittihad.
Arsenal are not out of the race completely for Lavia but with Thomas Partey set to stay at the Emirates Stadium, another defensive midfield acquisition is not at the top of their priorities currently.
The Saints will be under pressure to sell Lavia this summer after their relegation from the Premier League last season.
