Manchester City are still confident on completing a deal to sign Croatian central defender Josko Gvardiol this summer.
The highly-rated 21-year-old was expected to complete his move earlier this summer but details over a potential $100m became muddied after the German side were reportedly left unhappy that the transfer had been leaked to the media.
Josko Gvardiol set to move to Man City?
According to Football Insider’s Wayne Veysey, a well-placed insider source has stated that City remain optimistic they can nudge a deal for Gvardiol over the line.
Gvardiol still has four years left on his contract at the Red Bull-based side and has already had his move given the green light by national side teammate and new City recruit Mateo Kovacic.
On Gvardiol, Kovacic said, “Of course, I’d like him (Gvardiol) to join. I know he’s very young and has great potential. He can come here and learn and be the best version of himself like he wants to be.”
