Premier League giants Chelsea have agreed a new six-year contract for breakout young star Levi Colwill.
The deal is yet to be signed but is now in place according to David Ornstein and will see the highly-rated 20-year-old commit his future at Stamford Bridge until 2029. The news will delight new Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino who spotted Colwill’s talent as soon as he arrived in West London.
Levi Colwill set to sign new long-term deal
Speaking of Colwill during the Blues’ pre-season tour of the United States, Pochettino said, “I am so happy, he can be one of the greatest center-backs in England.”
Colwill was the subject of two big-money bids from Brighton and Hove Albion earlier this summer- the second of which was a club record fee. Both were immediately rejected, however, with Chelsea fully aware of how much Brighton wanted to snap up the left-sided center-back after he starred for them on loan last season in another highly impressive campaign for the Seagulls.
The news is not likely to affect Chelsea’s moves for Brighton pair Robert Sanchez and Moises Caicedo- who are set to be the latest high-profile names to swap the AMEX Stadium for Stamford Bridge.
