Inter Milan are weighing up making a move for Chelsea’s want-away central defender Trevor Chalobah this summer.
According to the London Evening Standard, Chalobah is ready to leave Stamford Bridge after the club yesterday agreed a $50m deal to sign Monaco defender Axel Disasi.
Trevor Chalobah unhappy with Chelsea hierarchy
Chalobah considered this season to be his big opportunity to hold down a regular first-team spot at Chelsea after the departures of long-serving captain Cesar Azpilicueta, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Ethan Ampadu from Stamford Bridge this summer.
However, the 24-year-old has reportedly been left snubbed after the Blues decided to go into the market for a new central defender instead of trusting their current options following the long-term injury to Frenchman Wesley Fofana.
Chalobah has played a lot of minutes under Mauricio Pochettino during the Blues’ pre-season tour of the United States but with veteran Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill, and Benoit Badiashile already thought to be ahead of the Sierra Leone-born star, the former England under-21 international wants out this summer.
Simeone Inzaghi is a fan of Chalobah but it remains uncertain whether the cash-strapped Italians will be able to stump up the $57.5m asking price for the defender.
