Liverpool defensive midfielder Fabinho has completed his transfer to Saudi Arabia Pro League outfit Al Ittihad.
The Brazilian international becomes the second Liverpool midfielder in a week to move to the fast-developing Asian league- following in the footsteps of ex-Reds captain Jordan Henderson who clinched his lucrative move to Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq on Thursday.
Fabinho clinches Saudi switch
Liverpool’s number three arrived at Anfield in 2018 after a highly successful three-year spell in Monaco- part of the Monegasque’s Ligue 1 title-winning side of 2017 alongside fellow stars such as Bernardo Silva and Kylian Mbappe.
The linchpin of an often fragmented midfield, Fabinho won the Champions League with the Reds in his first season on Merseyside and then the Premier League in his second: the club’s first in 30 years.
The news was officially announced via the club’s social media profiles with a fee likely to be a touch over $51m- an impressive figure for a 29-year-old. The Brazilian has signed a three-year contract and will play alongside fellow stars such as Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante next season.
