Treble winners Manchester City have added Jeremy Doku to their list of potential replacements for the departing winger Riyad Mahrez.
The 20-year-old became French club Rennes’ most expensive acquisition in 2020 following his $28m move from Belgian side Anderlecht. After a relatively slow start to life in France, Doku exploded onto the scene last season- providing six goals after February including a spectacular solo effort in a 5-0 win against Ajaccio in May- helping his side to a fourth-placed finish.
Jeremy Doku highly regarded by Jurgen Klopp
In 2017, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp compared then-15-year-old Doku to Sadio Mane due to his exceptional ability one-on-one and his eye for goal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, City have placed Doku alongside Crystal Palace star Michael Olise on their shortlist of wingers who they consider can appropriately replace Mahrez. Olise, however, is also admired by Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Doku is already a senior Belgium international and made a substitute appearance in last winter’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar against Croatia.
