Paris Saint-Germain are determined to complete the signing of Ousmane Dembele after missing La Liga’s deadline to activate the French winger’s release clause.
The 26-year-old Frenchman already has a pre-contract agreement with the Parisians but according to Fabrizio Romano, the club did not trigger the $55m release clause in Dembele’s contract in time for the deadline of midnight last night set by the Spanish League.
Dembélé clarity ⚠️🇫🇷
PSG have NOT activated La Liga €50m exit clause for Ousmane — expired and now valid for €100m.
By sending formal letter to Barça, PSG activated a ‘private’ clause.
It makes Dembélé available for same amount, €50m.

Ousmane Dembele move to PSG still on
However, by sending a written letter to Barca, PSG activated a private clause with the Catalans that allows them to purchase World Cup winner Dembele for the same price. The move is expected to be completed by the end of this week and will see Dembele return to his homeland after spending six years away.
Dembele will sign a five-year contract and is currently in Las Vegas ahead of what is widely expected to be his last match for the club against AC Milan in a pre-season friendly tonight.
Barca boss Xavi Hernandez has reportedly been left very disappointed by Dembele’s decision to leave after the player told the club legend his biggest dream was to win the Champions League with the Catalan giants before changing his mind at the weekend.
