Aston Villa have today entered the race to sign USMNT captain Tyler Adams from Leeds United.
Villa boss Unai Emery reportedly wants to trigger Adams’ $31.8m release clause which can now be activated due to the Whites’ relegation from the Premier League last season.
Tyler Adams set to move to Villa Park
As reported earlier today, Chelsea have shown an interest in the 24-year-old star with Mauricio Pochettino in the market to add more steel and experience to his youthful-looking midfield.
According to The Daily Mail’s Simon Jones, Villa are now awaiting a response from Leeds whilst Chelsea remain waiting in the wings. Villa have already added Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans to their squad this summer as a free transfer but continue to remould their squad ahead of the upcoming season which will see the Villains compete in the UEFA Conference League for the first time in the club’s history.
