Reigning La Liga champions Barcelona have agreed personal terms with Joao Cancelo ahead of a summer move from Manchester City.
The 29-year-old has been looking for a permanent home after returning from his loan spell at Bayern Munich at the end of last season and has now been deemed surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium by Pep Guardiola.
Joao Cancelo agrees to Barca offer
As reported yesterday, Barca boss Xavi Hernandez openly stated his desire for a new full-back this summer and the Portuguese star seems to fit the bill perfectly.
Cancelo’s creativity should prove an asset for the Catalans who currently only have Sergino Dest as a recognized right-back in their squad.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Xavi has been keen on Cancelo since January and talks have now begun between Barcelona and Manchester City with the Catalans expected to use the funds created by the sale of Ousmane Dembele to Paris Saint-Germain to pay for the attack-minded full-back.
