The MLS saw a busy evening of transfer activity as the summer window slammed shut at midnight CT last night.
The headline transfer to occur was Diego Rossi’s move from Turkish giants Fenerbahce to Eastern conference outfit Columbus Crew. The 25-year-old full Uruguayan international won the 2020 MLS golden boot with LAFC and will become one of the Crew’s designated players ahead of a $5.63m switch.

Vancouver Whitecaps were also busy on deadline day and managed to complete the double signing of Canadian pair Sam Adekugbe and Richie Layrea from Turkish side Hatayspor and Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest respectively.
Canadian international Adekugbe joins the Whitecaps for a fee over $1m whilst Layrea initially arrives on a loan transfer until the end of the 2023 MLS season.
Colorado Rapids have signed former Leicester City youngster Sidnei Tavares from Porto on loan whilst defensive midfielder Edwin Cerillo has swapped FC Dallas for LA Galaxy on a permanent deal.
USMNT defender Erik Palmer-Brown had his four-year deal at last season’s Greek runners-up Panathinaikos confirmed last night. As for the New York Red Bulls, they are finalizing a deal to sign young Colombian forward Jorge Cabezas Hurtado on loan from Watford with MLS sides not needing to announce their signings before the deadline of midnight CT last night as long as all paperwork has been submitted.
As a result of this, it is likely that further moves will be announced later today.
