Speculation is gathering that USMNT right-back Sergino Dest is set to have his contract canceled at Barcelona this summer.
Despite the 22-year-old traveling with the Barca squad to the United States on their pre-season tour, Dest is not considered to be in head coach Xavi Hernandez’s plans for this season.

According to Spanish journalist Victor Malo, Xavi has told Barca Director of Football Mateu Alemany that he needs to terminate Dest’s contract but currently no clubs have shown an interest in picking up the full-back’s wages.

Xavi was adamant that he needed a new right-back following his side’s 1-0 victory over AC Milan in Las Vegas on Tuesday and has now agreed personal terms with Joao Cancelo ahead of a permanent transfer from Manchester City this summer.
Dest spent last season on loan at AC Milan but failed to impress head coach Stefano Pioli enough to turn his move into a permanent one.
