Premier League giants Chelsea are set to submit their opening bid for USMNT captain Tyler Adams to Leeds United.
Due to an ongoing hamstring injury, the 24-year-old watched on from the stands as the Whites salvaged a last-minute equalizer to earn a 2-2 draw with Cardiff City on the opening day of their first season back in the Championship yesterday.
Tyler Adams set for Chelsea move?
As negotiations for Moises Caicedo have reportedly stalled in recent weeks, a move for the notably more affordable Adams currently looks much more realistic. Chelsea first showed their interest in Adams last week after it was confirmed the holding midfielder has a relegation clause worth $25.5m inserted into his contract at Elland Road.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, a move for Adams will not affect their interest in Caicedo with Mauricio Pochettino interested in coaching both of the young, dynamic, and highly-rated defensive midfielders as his summer remold continues to take shape.
After approaching player’s camp last week, Chelsea will open talks over Tyler Adams deal in the next days — informed on his £20m relegation clause 🔵🇺🇸
