West Ham United have submitted an opening offer worth $38.3m for Manchester United central defender Harry Maguire.
Despite being stripped of the captaincy, Maguire is not thought to be looking to leave Old Trafford this summer and will take a lot of convincing by Hammers boss David Moyes to uproot his family and move to East London.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs continue to be in talks tonight over a permanent transfer with Maguire currently not in a rush to negotiate terms. West Ham lost fan-favorite Craig Dawson in January to Wolves and have been looking for a permanent central defensive partner for former Chelsea stalwart Kurt Zouma ever since.

Maguire was at fault for Inaki Williams’ opening goal in United’s 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao yesterday in a pre-season friendly carried out in Dublin. The 30-year-old is currently seen as fourth choice at Old Trafford behind World Cup winners Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Swede Victor Lindelof.
