Brighton and Hove Albion are currently on standby to make a last-ditch attempt to hijack USMNT captain Tyler Adams’ move to Chelsea.
The 24-year-old underwent a medical with the Blues yesterday ahead of his $25.5m transfer which was planned to be announced before Sunday’s home fixture to Liverpool.
Tyler Adams set for last-minute Brighton move
According to The Secret Scout however, Adams’ move to Chelsea is not complete yet and the Leeds United midfielder could instead move to Brighton this week if the Blues are able to sign Moises Caicedo from the Seagulls after all.

Chelsea and Brighton remain locked in negotiations today over a move for Caicedo who remains the key factor in this summer’s transfer dealings. Brighton hope Chelsea will give up their pursuit of New York native Adams if Todd Boehly’s men are able to clinch their first-choice defensive midfield option Caicedo after the Ecuadorean made it clear he only wants to move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Seagulls see Adams as an immediate ideal replacement for Caicedo and would still be able to pocket a profit of over $100m if they are able to arrange a three-way deal with Leeds United and Chelsea- leaving Liverpool in the lurch after the Reds had a $132m bid for the 21-year-old defensive midfielder accepted late last night.
