Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas are set to sign Arsenal wide forward Nicolas Pepe as a free agent this summer once his contract at the Emirates Stadium is canceled.
The news comes just hours after The Black Eagles confirmed the signing of ex-Liverpool and Gunners wide-man turned central midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Nicolas Pepe set to sign for Besiktas imminently
The 28-year-old struggled to make a major impact under head coach Mikel Arteta and was shipped out on loan last season to French side Nice.
At the time of his signing, Pepe became the Gunners’ club-record transfer for approximately $90m in 2019 but has failed to prove value for money and has no apparent future at the Emirates Stadium due to the emergence of youth-team graduate Bukayo Saka.
Pepe has also lost his place in the Ivory Coast national team over the past year and according to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, the winger is hoping a new country and a new league can kick-start a career that has fallen by the wayside over recent years.
