Spanish giants Real Madrid have completed the signing of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea on a season-long loan.
Los Blancos have acted quickly following the serious knee injury suffered by regular first-choice keeper Thibaut Courtois which is expected to rule the Belgian for the whole of the 2023-24 campaign.
Kepa Arrizabalaga completes Real Madrid switch
The news was confirmed via the club’s official website and will see Spanish international Kepa take his place between the sticks on a regular basis this season after it looked certain he would have to fight for first-team opportunities with compatriot Robert Sanchez in West London.
Kepa will be presented to the world media as a Real Madrid player for the first time tomorrow afternoon and will wear the number 25 shirt at the Santiago Bernabeu under former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti.
The 28-year-old moved to Chelsea five years ago from Athletic Bilbao for a world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper and has won the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup during his time at the club.
