Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are interested in signing Manchester City’s backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega this summer.
The Bavarians missed out on signing Kepa Arrizabalaga who signed for Real Madrid on a season-long loan yesterday. And with club captain Manuel Neuer still out injured with a return date not yet set, Ortega has emerged as the club’s first-choice shot-stopper according to German reporter Florian Plettenberg.

Stefan Ortega lined up by Bayern Munich
Before moving to the Etihad Stadium last summer, Ortega spent the entirety of his club career in Germany including a three-year spell at Bayern’s city rivals 1860 Munich.
Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is thought to have been left frustrated about missing out on Kepa and has opened discussions with Ortega over the previous few days. City manager Pep Guardiola is confident in keeping the 30-year-old however, and has trusted the German in all of the club’s domestic cup competitions since joining last summer.
Bayern have been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper since Swiss number one Yann Sommer completed his move to Inter Milan earlier this month despite good performances by stand-in shot-stopper Sven Ulreich.
