Chelsea have triggered the $44.5m release clause in Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise’s contract as Todd Boehly’s summer splurge continues in West London.
The 21-year-old London-born wing wizard is currently receiving treatment at Selhurst Park after suffering a slight tear to his hamstring last month and is not expected to return until the end of September.
Michael Olise set for Blues switch
The star winger has already given a move to Stamford Bridge this summer the green light and is expected to be offered a long-term contract by the Blues in accordance with their policy of young players, according to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins. Olise has gone on to establish himself as an important player for Roy Hodgson’s side and enjoyed a fabulous campaign last term, winning the Player’s Player of the Season award.

The French under-21 international became the first Palace player ever to claim 10 or more assists in a Premier League campaign and the youngest player ever to provide three assists from open play in one Premier League match last season too.
Chelsea have fought off competition from Premier League holders Manchester City– who are believed to have cooled their initial interest in recent days whilst they waited to hear the severity of Olise’s injury.
