Spanish champions Barcelona are desperate to offload USMNT right-back Sergino Dest this summer to fund a move for Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo.
According to the Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, manager Xavi Hernandez has to offload Dest and French international Clement Lenglet this summer in order for Barca to afford Cancelo’s wages and create space to register other players who were unable to be called upon against Getafe in their La Liga opener last Sunday.
Sergino Dest set to depart Barcelona
Xavi sees Cancelo as the perfect fit for Barcelona at right-back with his creativity being his greatest asset. City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly all too happy to let the Portuguese leave this summer as well after a high-profile fallout in January which led to his loan departure to Bayern Munich last season.
No clubs are currently linked with a move for Dest but Lenglet is attracting attention from the Saudi Pro League after his permanent switch to Tottenham Hotspur broke down this summer.
