Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix is reportedly considering terminating his own contract after falling out with manager Diego Simeone.

According to the Spanish news outlet La Sexta, the 23-year-old’s relationship with long-standing head coach Simeone and the rest of the Atleti dressing room has completely broken down with his teammates growing restless at the ongoing situation.

Felix spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea and performed admirably in a dreadful season for the Blues who finished the campaign in 12th.

Despite Simeone forking out $130m for Felix in 2019, the pair’s contrastive styles have clashed enormously and the Portuguese is desperate to leave the club to rebuild his career elsewhere.

According to El Desmarque, however, Atleti take Felix’s threat of ripping up his own contract as a joke as it would mean he would have to pay out his own release clause- thought to be worth a whopping $380m.

Earlier this month, Felix issued a come-get-me plea to Barcelona, and the Portuguese international has informed his agent and Atleti to block any other offers that do not come from the Catalan giants this summer.
