However, they face competition to sign the 29-year-old, as a number of Saudi Pro League clubs are showing an interest, according to The Athletic.

Barcelona have had a long-standing interest in the full-back throughout the summer. But, due to FFP restrictions, they will need to offload stars before making their move for Cancelo.

The club’s inability to get the deal over the line has seen Saudi Arabian interest in the 29-year-old increase over recent weeks.

Man City are open to offers for the Portuguese international, as he doesn’t feature in Pep Guardiola’s plans for the forthcoming season.

Cancelo spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayern Munich, but the German giants opted against a permanent move for the Portugal star.

The full-back made 21 appearances across all competition for the Bavarian club last season, scoring once.
