West Ham United have identified Stuttgart central defender Konstantinos Mavropanos as a potential replacement for Manchester United man Harry Maguire.
Greek international Mavropanos, 25, struggled during his four-year spell at Arsenal but has resurrected his career in Germany and was a key reason why Stuttgart stayed in the Bundesliga last season.
West Ham set to move for Konstantinos Mavropanos
David Moyes’ men have been in the market for a new center back throughout the summer and after a move for former Manchester United captain Maguire fell through, the Hammers have had to move on to other potential targets. With just two years left on his current deal, the German side will feel now is the perfect time to receive the optimum transfer fee for Mavropanos- one of their star assets.
Well-respected German journalist Florian Plettenberg confirmed that talks had begun between the two clubs over a permanent deal with a deal expected to cost between $22m and $27m.
