Premier League side Aston Villa are interested in signing Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares this summer after falling down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.
Tavares, 23, spent last season on loan at French club Marseille but Igor Tudor’s men failed to make the move permanent after an indifferent campaign.
Nuno Tavares set for Aston Villa switch?
The Portuguese under-21 international joined from Benfica in 2021 and following an injury to Kieran Tierney, Tavares became first-choice left-back under Gunners boss Mikel Arteta. The arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer meant Tavares was shipped out on loan and according to Fabrizio Romano, UEFA Conference League qualifiers Aston Villa are considering a move for the left-back as they aim to compete in four competitions this season for the first time since 2009.

If a move for Tavares does not go through, Unai Emery has targetted Sevilla’s Marcos Acuna as an alternative option to bolster a squad set to embark on European football.
Tavares was set to move to Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest last week but a move broke down over personal terms.
