Champions League qualifiers Newcastle United have signed 18-year-old left-back Lewis Hall from Chelsea on an initial season-long loan.
Hall completed his medical examinations over the weekend and has signed an initial year-long deal which includes an obligation for the Magpies to make the transfer permanent next summer for $38m based on performance-related criteria.

The complicated arrangement has been sorted in order for the Magpies to comply with the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play Regulations. The news was announced by the club’s official website and confirms that boyhood Newcastle fan Hall will wear the number 20 shirt for the Black and Whites.
Teenage sensation Hall becomes Newcastle’s fifth and most probably their last signing of the summer window. Hall was named Chelsea’s Academy Player of the Year last season- a feat also achieved by fellow new Newcastle arrival Tino Livramento.
On his move, Hall said, “I’m very proud. Me and my family are Newcastle fans, and for me and my brother growing up, it was drilled into us that we were Newcastle. It’s a big club and I can’t wait to get started.
“To now be here at Newcastle, the club that I’ve supported since I was a kid, I’m honored and very proud to wear this shirt”
