Doku had already agreed personal terms with the Sky Blues weeks before a fee had even been agreed upon. This effectively removed Rennes’ attempt to up their asking price for Doku towards the $80m mark after Chelsea made an inquiry, with City successfully haggling the fee down to $65m for the youngster.
Doku’s exciting dribbling and creativity will be an excellent alternative addition to Pep Guardiola’s men, who at times have proved to be slightly one-paced when trying to break down opposition teams which decide to sit deep.
