Ligue 1 outfit Monaco are preparing a new offer for Folarin Balogun as the race for the USMNT star hots up.
According to talkSPORT, Monaco will bid more than $44m for the 22-year-old hitman who is prepared to leave Arsenal on a permanent deal in order to secure more first-team opportunities this season.
Monaco want USMNT hitman Folarin Balogun
With two years still remaining on Balogun’s contract at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners are not in a rush to sell the young forward. However, after outlaying over $250m on new signings this summer, a sale for Balogun may be advised for Financial Fair Play reasons.
Monaco have already seen a bid of $36m turned down for the USMNT star earlier this month but remain confident of striking a deal. The New York native is also attracting attention from Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea but the Monegasques are currently in the driving seat.
Balogun has failed to make a matchday squad for the Gunners this season despite Gabriel Jesus’ minor knee injury. Monaco are convinced that Balogun can re-create the terrific form he showed on loan at fellow Ligue 1 side Reims last season- where he scored the winner at Monaco’s Stade Louis II stadium back in March.
