Manchester United are considering making a move for Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso to replace injured first-choice left-back Luke Shaw.
Alonso, 32, has fallen doing the pecking order in Catalonia under Barca boss Xavi Hernandez and forms one option of a three-man shortlist written up by Red Devils head coach Erik Ten Hag.
Marcos Alonso set for Man United switch?
Alonso would be keen on a return to the Premier League after previously starring for Chelsea, Bolton, and Sunderland and is joined on a left-back shortlist that also contains the names of Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella and Tottenham Hotspur’s forgotten man Sergio Reguillon, with loan moves also being considered, according to the Daily Mirror’s Daniel Orme.
With Shaw joining Tyrell Malacia on the treatment table at Old Trafford, and Brandon Williams leaving the club on a season-long loan for Ipswich Town, Ten Hag is now desperate to get in a new left-back before the Friday deadline.
