Premier League giants Chelsea have slapped an eye-watering $62m price tag on central defender Trevor Chalobah to fend off interest from Bayern Munich.
Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is in the market for a new defender with the versatile Benjamin Pavard set to complete his move to Inter Milan imminently.
Bayern Munich set to swoop for Trevor Chalobah?
Negotiations have begun between the two clubs with Chelsea insisting they will not budge from their asking price or consider a loan move for the 24-year-old according to the London Evening Standard’s Nizaar Kinsella.
Chalobah initially broke through at Chelsea under then-Blues boss Tuchel and can play as a central defender in a back three or provisionally fill in as a right-back.
Contrary to some reports, Chalobah is not undergoing a medical with the Bundesliga champions in either London or Munich with the two clubs still very far apart in their evaluation of the Sierra Leone-born star.
