Manchester United have submitted a proposal to sign Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella on a season-long loan.
The Spanish international is viewed by Erik Ten Hag as a good fit for his system at Old Trafford and would be used as a squad player alongside the injured duo Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Marc Cucurella set for Old Trafford?
The two clubs are currently in dialogue over a move with Chelsea expected to request a large loan fee after selling fellow left-back Lewis Hall to Newcastle United last week.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Cucurella has emerged as Ten Hag’s top candidate after he provided the club with a shortlist of left-back options to sign before Friday.
🚨 Man Utd have submitted proposal to sign Marc Cucurella from Chelsea. #CFC responded, talks ongoing. Offer is initial loan + clubs discussing various parameters around that. #MUFC like 25yo for Ten Hag system; top candidate as things stand @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/QSoDdaayOC

Cucurella has been an unused substitute in all of Chelsea’s three Premier League fixtures so far this season and vice-captain Ben Chillwell is currently above him in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
United will now not continue discussions with any of their remaining left-back targets as Old Trafford bosses are confident of striking a deal for the Spaniard with Todd Boehly’s men this week.
Cucurella cost the Blues an extraordinary figure of over $75m from Brighton and Hove Albion just last summer.
