Besiktas are set to provide Mason Greenwood with the opportunity to restart his playing career after it was announced he was to leave Manchester United.
Earlier this month, the Red Devils decided that it was best for all parties if Greenwood resumed his career elsewhere following the conclusion of a six-month internal investigation into his conduct after charges of rape, coercive behavior, and assault against Greenwood were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February.
Mason Greenwood to be offered Besiktas deal?
According to The i’s Pete Hall, the Turkish giants are one of the few clubs who have not been completely deterred from the circumstances surrounding Greenwood’s departure from Old Trafford.
At this stage, Besiktas believe that an initial short-term loan spell, of around six months, could be agreed as a litmus test of public feeling. If Besiktas fans end up welcoming him with both arms, a long-term deal could then be discussed but any move would be dependent on the consent of Besitkas’ women’s team.
An insider told the i, “If he (Greenwood) comes to Istanbul and scores goals straight away, the boos will quickly go.”
In the meantime, Greenwood remains on full pay at United having signed a long-term deal until 2025.
