Should Palhinha leave the club this summer, the Cottagers are prepared to make a move for McTominay, according to Sky Sports.
Man United appear willing to offload the Scottish international, should their valuation for the player be matched.
The Red Devils turned down a bid from West Ham United earlier in the season, while McTominay is also a player of interest for Bayern Munich.
The 26-year-old came through the youth ranks at United, and has been with the first-team squad since 2017. McTominay has made 211 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils, and has scored on 19 occasions.
