Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce still have over a week to sign Italian international midfielder Jorginho from Arsenal.
With the summer window not shutting in Turkey until September 15, a move for the 31-year-old defensive midfielder is still on the cards after failing to break into Mikel Arteta’s favored starting 11 this term.
Jorginho heading for Emirates Stadium exit?
Even with fellow defensive midfielder Thomas Partey out injured, Jorginho only made a brief substitute appearance in the 99th minute in the Gunners’ 3-1 home win over Manchester United yesterday to help sure up the victory.
According to The Daily Express, the Gunners could be prepared to cash in on Jorginho whilst they can with the former Chelsea man’s contract at the Emirates Stadium up at the end of the season.
Despite starting Arsenal’s last five matches of last season, Jorginho has only made two league appearances off the bench this.
Responding to reports that Jorginho could be axed, head coach Mike Arteta attempted to downplay rumors yesterday by saying, “Jorgi’s experience is very important, and then we have to use that and allow them to lead and self-police in certain moments”.
