French club Lorient opted against making a move for Donny Van De Beek because of the Dutch international’s attitude towards them earlier in the window.
As reported last week, it was believed that the French outfit had agreed a deal in principle with Manchester United to sign the out-of-favor 26-year-old on a season-long loan.

However, a move for Van De Beek never materialized and instead, Lorient moved to sign former Chelsea and AC Milan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Van De Beek saw a move to the Britons beneath him earlier this summer after being heavily linked with Champions League qualifiers Real Sociedad following David Silva’s sudden retirement due to a serious injury suffered in pre-season training.
After United turned down La Real’s offer with the San Sebastian club not prepared to pay 100% of the Dutchman’s wages, Van De Beek reportedly rang Lorient personally on deadline day to confirm he was now interested in the French club’s proposal but Lorient saw the U-turn as too little too late.
