Veteran goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel will complete his move to Belgian club Anderlecht today after being released by Nice on transfer deadline day.
Despite making 46 appearances in all competitions for the French Riviera side last season, the 36-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements and had his contract canceled a year early on transfer deadline day.

The former Leicester City shot-stopper enjoyed a highly successful 11 years at the King Power Stadium between 2011 and 2022, winning the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Community Shield before departing the club suddenly last August.
According to Foot Mercato reporter Santi Aouna, Schmeichel will sign a one-year contract with the option of a further year.

34 times Belgian champions Anderlecht finished an incredibly disappointing 11th last term but have started better this term, sitting just behind league leaders Gent on goal difference after six matches.
Schmeichel will now compete with the current number-one goalkeeper Maxime Dupe between the sticks this season for the Purple and Whites.
