Everton winger Demarai Gray has moved to Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq for $10m before the transfer window slams shut later today.
The 27-year winger has not appeared at all under head coach Sean Dyche for the Toffees this season with Gray demanding a move away from the club this summer.
Demarai Gray moves to Al Ettifaq
Gray has put pen to paper over a four-year deal with Steven Gerrard’s side. After winning the Premier League in his first six months with Leicester City in 2016, Gray has established himself as a dangerous but at times inconsistent Premier League performer.
After the European transfer window closed on Friday, Gray posted a statement on his personal Instagram account which read, “Everton fans have always been great with me but it’s so difficult to play for someone who doesn’t show you respect as a person.”
Following Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Sheffield United, head coach Dyche responded to the claims in an interview with the club’s in-house media by saying, “Demarai made it clear that he felt he was getting a move (away from Everton) and he told us a move was done, which was interesting to hear from a player.
“We reminded him of the truth of the fact that no moves are done without this club’s say so. I think it’s right to let our fans know that’s the truth.”
