Lyon are set to offer former Real Madrid Julen Lopetegui the opportunity to become their new head coach in the coming days.
The 57-year-old Spaniard resigned from his post as the head coach of Wolves just days before the start of the Premier League season last month and is reportedly keen to go straight back into management.
Julen Lopetegui set for Lyon job?
As reported earlier this week, former Chelsea boss Graham Potter turned down the opportunity to take over at Lyon after deciding that it was not the right time to uproot himself and his family to France as he continues to evaluate his next move.
According to Sky Sports, Lyon’s American owner John Textor has big ambitions for the club, and with the club currently rock bottom of the Ligue 1 table, Textor plans to invest in the squad and facilities over the coming months.
During his nine-month spell at Molineux last season, ex-Real Madrid and Spanish national team head coach Lopetegui helped guide Wolves to a very respectable 13th-place position despite the club only picking up 10 points from their opening 16 matches when he took over.
