Lyon are set to appoint ex-player Fabio Grosso as their next permanent manager in a surprise U-turn by owner John Textor.
It had been suggested that American Textor was seeking to appoint a head coach who has worked at the top level with Graham Potter, Gennaro Gattuso, Julen Lopetegui, and Lille boss Paulo Fonseca all linked.

Grosso has mainly spent his managerial career in the Italian second division, Serie B, and during his only spell in Serie A with Brescia was famously sacked after just three matches- with his side failing to earn a single point or even score a single goal.
Despite this, Grosso led Serie B outfit Frosinone to the league title last season before leaving at the end of his contract.
Grosso played for Lyon between 2007 and 2009 and won the Ligue 1 title in his first season at the club. The 45-year-old will be presented to the world’s media as L’OL’s new head coach on Monday.
